Celebrating love is a beautiful thing isn’t it? You probably also landed at this blog because you are going to celebrate love. Congratulations! As a wedding planner & master of ceremonies, I would love to take you through the various topics. This time, the blog below is about why choose a wedding planner?
Can’t I organise my wedding myself? It can’t be that difficult and besides, it’s quite an investment, right? Regularly I see or hear this passing by. Let’s preface by saying that I certainly understand such statements. And it’s also definitely true that you can arrange it yourselves. Only question is: do you guys feel like it? Don’t you forget something if you do it yourself and in the case of a wedding with a large group of guests or multiple venues, I can tell you that it is very nice to have a wedding planner involved in the organising process. But also if getting married at a location abroad. Of course, as a wedding planner, I can well imagine that it would be fun to organise it yourself. But I can guarantee you that taking a wedding planner into your hands has many advantages. Happy to explain these further.
- Planning, script and execution: it’s not just a dress, the venue and some invitations and the rest speaks for itself. There is often more to it than meets the eye. A time schedule, how far in advance is it smart to secure a photographer already? What can you look out for when receiving contracts from suppliers? For example, does a photographer have a backup if they are sick? What may happen in terms of decorating on location? And when can you possibly start decorating and also tear down. At many venues, this can only be done on the day itself. Then again, you need extra manpower to pull this off. In short, just for good planning, the right script to come to a proper execution, it can be useful to take a wedding planner into your hands. For example, I recently had a bride and groom where it was unclear what was going to happen next in terms of pricing for the venue. Will it still be raised because of inflation and when will we hear about it etc. However, who will point this out if you have no clue about this?
- Network of suppliers: over the years, you gather a lot of suppliers around you. And by suppliers, I mean anything and everything you might need on the big day. Think videographer, photographer, make-up & hair, catering, stylist, bakers, BABSs and so on. Because there are so many suppliers, it may be difficult to choose. Here too, I like to think along with you about what would suit you and your style. On this basis, the selection already becomes a lot smaller and the choice a bit more limited which is only nicer. This is what you can take advantage of when you hire a wedding planner. The lines of communication are often short also with many suppliers and partly because I myself always mail the script to all suppliers a week in advance, everyone knows where they stand.
- Managing budget: often we start with a certain budget and little by little we increase the budget again. Sometimes this is actually necessary, but certainly not always. A wedding planner can also look at your budget with you and make sure you stay within it. If you want to keep the budget low, you can also make choices by getting married at a different time of the year, not a weekend day etc. This way you can already save some money, but there are many more tips that can help you stay within your budget.
Saving time: if you arrange everything yourself, logically this also takes time. And time, always sounds nice and cliché, is money. By handing it over, you save time and can use the time again for perhaps picking out a nice honeymoon or that one to-do thing that gives you so much energy. And linked to this again is often reducing stress. Because doing it yourself can also cause some stress.
- Ideas: Pinterest is really full of beautiful pictures and inspiration. And honestly, I think every wedding planner also uses this for her/his bridal couples to get inspiration again. But because a wedding planner has experience, and often at multiple locations, this can again have its advantage that the execution will actually turn out like your pinterest mood board. And not only that, because through experience again, certain ideas can be suggested, or think about that or that can be just a little bit different.
- Valuable on the day itself: how nice is it when your day runs like the script was made? And how nice is it, if things don’t go the way the script says, the wedding planner can fix it again. Things sometimes turn out differently than previously thought and that is totally fine. The only annoying thing is if it bothers you. And that is precisely not the intention. It is your day, so enjoy it to the full and sit back in terms of organisation. If the wedding cake is late, or the person who will do your hair, the wedding planner can often move quickly and come up with a solution without you realising it. How nice is that :).
And let’s also be sure to say that a wedding planner does not have to take everything off your hands, certainly not. This is why I personally always like to schedule an introductory meeting, that way wishes and expectations can be clearly discussed. Similarly, what do you want to arrange yourself and what can I take off your hands. In this respect, everything is also just possible and negotiable. Organise your wedding with a smile.
