Do we see each other soon?

The emergency kit of master of ceremonies and wedding planner

You may see it passing by regularly, a wedding planner or master of ceremonies with a waist bag. What is your thought on that 😉? ‘It doesn’t look like it’ or ‘it will be needed for something’. I can guarantee you that the latter is definitely the case. The waist bag or rather the ’emergency kit’ is indispensable. And I can tell you right away it is needed and used all the time. Either by the bride or, in my case, by myself. This is also part of our preparations. And maybe you think I don’t need anything anyway, you genuinely never know.

I often coordinate with the bride what she finds useful to have in it. Own make-up, deo, cologne and the like. But also possibly your phone, hotel card if you are staying somewhere overnight can be handy to give to someone briefly or to your master of ceremonies.

I also carry a few things in the waist bag as standard. Consider:
Blister plasters, in case your shoes don’t fit as nicely after all. You may have run them in well should you suddenly develop a blister, it is nice to have this in there so you can continue walking painlessly.
Normal plasters, how annoying when you accidentally open up on them and red blood drops go all over your dress or suit. Rather not, right? Therefore, plasters are also a must-have.
A pair of scissors, and I can tell you about the scissors I still use the most myself. With everything getting ready, I often see plenty of boxes that still need to be opened but also wires hanging somewhere. And those threads can also be on your dress, a little pull and huppakee. That’s when those scissors come in handy. But also if anything may be fixed to your dress if something is letting go.
Toothpicks for lasting clean teeth. How annoying is it to have something between your teeth, let alone the feeling of seeing it in every photo too? Right, then toothpicks really are a godsend after all.
Needle and thread, in case something comes loose from your dress. I often agree in advance on the colour of the dress, but besides that I have several colours to go with it. How annoying when your hem becomes loose or the bottom suddenly starts to fray?
Nylon thread, I hear you thinking why? Regularly, I run into decoration that is loose, or suddenly becomes loose. Nylon thread or other transparent wire can help to reattach it.
Tissues, for those tears that will undoubtedly come.
A small file, to take a moment to file your nails if there is a sudden pull and it might immediately affect your dress, a shame right?
Painkillers, also something that is indispensable anyway. Perhaps you would rather not take anything, but there is nothing more annoying than not being able to enjoy your beautiful day with, for example, a splitting headache.
Make-up and remover are nice to put in the bag as well. Often your make-up artist will give you a little bit of everything so you can touch up if necessary. This fortunately still fits in my purse with it and can act quickly if needed.
Deodorant and/or perfume, just something small. Sometimes it may not even be necessary, but you may feel yourself needing to smell a little fresher again. And that’s totally fine too, then it’s nice to have anyway.
A pen, especially needed for myself to make the necessary notes for a while.

What doesn’t fit in the bag is water or something to eat. Also not unimportant for the bride and groom than for myself to bring along. And don’t forget the script. Besides always having that on my phone, having my charger with me, I also print out a clear roadmap for myself. This doesn’t always fit in the bag anymore, but my phone thankfully does 😊. And so there are other things you can think of either to give to me or to put somewhere. Think tampons/mouthwash, clean underwear, mosquito spray, extra pair of shoes or slippers and eyeglass wipes if you wear glasses.
In other words, it is still quite a bit but cannot be redundant. What is essential for you at your wedding to bring along?
